JP – Finance Controller

The Job

Result-oriented professional with experience in preparing, examining and analyzing accounting records, financial statements, budgets and other financial reports, independently handling direct and indirect tax compliance, statutory, tax and transfer pricing audits (with third-party support) and supporting business over financial/administrative topics.

Handling the finance aspects of the growing Japan entity of the group and support regional finance needs in connection with the Regional Finance framework. This is an individual contributor role.

Responsibilities:

Accounting/Controlling-

  • Maintenance of day-to-day accounting on SAGE for Believe Japan GK entity
  • Prepare and review general ledger entries and balances, to understand trends and challenge anomalies
  • Prepare and review and approve monthly Trial Balance, Balance Sheet & P&L’s reports
  • Finalisation and reporting of accounts on monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis
  • Compliance with local GAAPs
  • Assisting corporate office on need basis for global consolidation of accounts
  • Coordinating/interaction and report building with auditors of respective entities for completion of limited reviews and year-end audit.
  • Coordinating/interaction and report building with various consultant appointed by group for various statutory activities and other consulting services
  • Provide local Management with quality financial analysis for financial results and its implication in connection with the Regional Finance framework.

Compliance-

  • Statutory and regulatory compliance like Consumption Tax, Corporate Income Tax, etc.
  • Independently handling with a support third-party statutory/tax/transfer pricing audits
  • Track, prepare and submit responses to various departmental notices/scrutinies/assessments

Others-

  • Manage relationship with third-parties service providers related to support activities (accounting, compliance, …)
  • Support business teams in their needs on financial/administrative topics (review of invoices, administrative procedures understanding, …)
  • Effective interaction with other departments, units and subsidiaries of the Company for various activities on timely basis, Management and development of financial controls and systems.
  • Review proposed business transactions and provide guidance to stakeholders both from accounting and compliance perspective
  • Identify and escalate control issues, errors and efficiency opportunities
  • Support regional Finance on any of the roles mentioned when requested by the Regional Management

Qualifications

  • Education – Finance/Audit/Accounting master degree
  • 5 to 10 years of Experience in various finance responsibilities: accounting-controlling-financial compliance

Mandatory Skills:

 

  • The role would involve performing tasks and managing third-party provider as well meeting deadline and strive to continuously improve the quality. The candidate has to be extremely hands on and focused towards on time delivery with absolute accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment such as lack of well-defined procedures and changing work mix
  • Strong written and Verbal communication in English and people skill is essential. Ability to independently communicate with senior leaders in the business
  • Must have an eye for detail and should possess strong strategic & analytical skills
  • Understanding of the broad financial activities is key (from accounting to compliance including controlling …)

JP – Head of Artist Services

The Job

As Head of Artist Services, you will lead a team of Artist Services in charge of offering and managing artist services and distribution strategies.

  • Sales Strategy – Define sourcing strategy and priority targets for the unit; negotiate & sign key deals with artists & management; provide strategic guidance to develop key local projects, your team and lead and conduct business reviews to key artists  
  • People Management – Hire, manage and motivate local AS team  
  • Work Organization – Structure and organise work locally and internationally, internally & externally  
  • Execution Control – Control local execution of global strategy & targets   
  • P&L, budget, performance – Owns unit P&L, monitor KPI and budgets

Qualifications

  • Audit and identify emerging label & artists market trends by attending meetings, gigs, showcases, conferences, and other events to represent Believe and your key clients.
  • Build strong relationships with labels, artists, management, and the local industry (music lawyers etc.).
  • Inform internal team about market evolution.

4.     Alignment of clients and internal stakeholders:

  • Ensure streamlined communication with all stakeholders
  • Ensure the best transition with the team that will handle customer’s day-to-day relationship and support (especially account management team)

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, we consider the following as critical skills:

  • More than 5 years of experience in a music industry or similar role in a record label, distributor, fan & audience development, artist management, entertainment IP management
  • Proven track record in sales, closing deals in a fast-growing company (technology, services, media, entertainment)
