Artist Success Manager – Hip Hop

The Job

TuneCore is looking for an Artist Success Manager – Hip Hop to join our team by supporting the company’s high value client experience strategy with creativity and innovation at the forefront of the role. 

TuneCore’s Artist Success team works with our strategic high value US artist and B2B label accounts, DSP partners and internal teams to provide a best-in-class digital distribution experience.

As an Artist Success Manager – Hip Hop, you’ll provide highly personalized, white-glove, omnichannel support to TuneCore’s strategic accounts. You’ll also work cross-functionally with several teams throughout the business to ensure TuneCore delivers the best product experience on the market by advocating for the needs of these accounts both during product development and through regular feedback sessions throughout the year.

You’ll have the opportunity to guide high-value clients through their entire release lifecycle, from catalog upload and release day, to sales reporting and performance.  In addition to ensuring their successful releases, it will be up to you to ensure that TuneCore’s most important clients have access to industry news, best practices, upcoming product launches, cross-promotion, monetization optimization through TuneCore’s Accelerator program, early access opportunities, and beyond.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be a seasoned music industry professional with demonstrated client success experience, and a deep knowledge of operational best practices. You’re a strategic thinker who can solve both the immediate problem in front of you as well as the overarching issue at hand. You’ll be expected to have availability outside of regular business hours in order to enable your accounts to plan and execute their unique release strategies.  Finally, you’re someone who knows when to simply roll up your sleeves, dig in, and get the job done.

Salary: $83,400-$100,100

Role Duties: 

You will be in a client-facing role that encompasses the following responsibilities:

  • Own and manage a cohort of strategic TuneCore accounts – with a strong focus on Hip Hop and R&B clients – to ensure seamless distribution experiences from start to finish.

  • Partner with the Artist & Partner Relations team to identify growth opportunities for high value accounts as well as retention opportunities for at risk accounts.

  • Partner with Artist Support & Operations teams to optimize processes and resolve high profile client issues quickly and efficiently.

  • Participate in client retention and brand building activities in the music community alongside other members of the TuneCore team.

  • Build strong brand loyalty through relationship building, release management, and opportunity sharing.

  • Manage education programs that help artists to accelerate their career growth.

  • Assist in catalog transfers and cross sell opportunities with TuneCore’s parent company, Believe.

  • Identify, alongside Believe, cross-stream opportunities for new and existing clients.

  • Represent TuneCore and immerse yourself further into the Hip Hop / R&B music community by attending conferences, events, and showcases, partnering with the Marketing teams to maximize reach and engagement.

  • Engage with music communities both on and off-line extolling the benefits of TuneCore.

  • Curate and manage a suite of data, key metrics and analytics, reviewed regularly, to establish a formula for account health and churn risk.

  • Additional special projects as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience working in the music industry preferably in distribution, artist management, or independent labels.

  • Strong knowledge and familiarity with Hip Hop / R&B music, artists, style, culture.

  • Excellent communications skills: written, verbal and interpersonal.

  • Must be an enthusiastic self starter with a proven track record of executing client retention programs and artist growth opportunities.

  • Extremely technologically savvy with both known platforms and tools, as well as picking up proprietary tech quickly. 

  • Be highly motivated with the ability to solve problems creatively and quickly.

  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work under shifting deadlines.

  • Must be collaboration minded and comfortable working cross-functionally across varying organizational levels.

  • You should be able to demonstrate thoroughness, follow-up/follow-through, and attention to detail.

  • BA/BS Degree

  • Expert in digital distribution and the digital music space, and common issues facing music professionals.

  • Knowledge and experience in social media.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability and a track record of successful planning and execution.

  • Proactive, energetic attitude with a desire to work in a results-oriented environment.

  • Knowledge of music metadata preferred.

Business Development Executive – Publishing (b:electronic)

The Job

As Business Development Executive you will share responsibility for delivering the b:electronic teams objectives to drive growth, deliver excellent service and maximise client value .  You will source external prospects for b:electronic from your network of managers, labels, artists, songwriters and producers, using market analysis and strong interpersonal and sales skills.   • Contribute to above target new business growth through the identification of opportunities and client acquisition.
  • Work across the publishing and neighbouring rights sales process ensuring a seamless, first class onboarding experience for our clients using agile work practices and consistent communication

Qualifications

  • Min 3 years of experience with a proven track record in a publisher, label, DSP, management company or booking agent
  • Critically, you are passionate about electronic music and with a network of contacts and deep understanding of the genre’s ecosystem and the functions within it
  • You can demonstrate initiative, problem solving, accountability, and team spirit.

A&R manager

The Job

As an A&R manager, part of our Artist services team, your mission is to source, attract and sign new partners (artists and labels) in a constantly mutating environment. 

You will work within our Artist services team in charge of selling distribution & marketing partnerships to a network of indie artists with passion, innovation, care, and transparency. 

Your duties will include but not limited to the following

• Build contracts, control signings & advance payments.
• Monitor & update pipeline, analyse performances and provide reports.
• Follow market trends, analyse and build competitive offers for our partners.
• Identify new talents and build a pipeline of new artists.
• Pitch Believe AS services and build individual offers.
• Lead meetings with artists & management, calculate budgets and advocate offers before head office, negotiate best conditions resulting in win-win deals.

TH – AS Senior A&R Manager

The Job

As A&R Manager, your focus is on intensively maintaining your existing contacts in the scene, identifying the key drivers of music trends and continuously optimizing the deal options for the Artists. You have a spirit of optimism, you will identify up and coming talent across all relevant channels. You will also conduct transparent and fair contract negotiations with artists and labels, which include increasing the value for both sides as the top priority. With your vision you will not only occupy a key position in Believe portfolio, but also play a crucial role in shaping the Thai Regional music landscape.

Utilising your network, market analysis, business and artist relations, you will be able to source and identify artists who would be suitable for Artist Services. Carrying out first discussions with the artists and their management, you will be able to identify their needs and share the perfect offer with your Local Head of Artist Services. You will be in charge in the contract negotiation and coordinate the transfer of the artists to our project management team.

1. Identify Emerging to Top Artist at the earliest stage

JP – Business Developer Associate, Label

The Job

Utilising your network, market analysis, business, label, and artist relations, you will be able to source and identify labels & artists. You would have the opportunity to develop your career by working cross-functionally with our international team across the globe, have access to the best-in-class innovative music technology products in the music industry.

As the Business Development person for Believe in Japan, you will define and implement the sourcing and acquisitions strategy for labels & artists. Carrying out first discussions with labels and artists and their management, you will identify their needs and share the perfect offer with our Local Head of Label & Artist Solutions. You will take and lead the contract negotiation.

Responsibilities:  

1.     Develop your Music Industry Network and Identify key labels & artists:

  • Contribute to company growth by sourcing label & artist leads in the Japan market from all types and levels by utilizing your network.
  • Support the improvement of Japan’s business strategy and execution with Head of Label and Artist Solutions (LAS).
  • Develop localized key sales tools to enable Sales team to approach prospect businesses.

2.     Qualify label & artist potential, tailor offer to prospects and close deals:

  • Assess label & artists potential, estimate deal value, and collect information to manage the sales pipeline in compliance with defined business rules.
  • Build knowledge of company’s different types of deals to cater to label & artist needs
  • Manage and update company’s CRM system daily. 
  • Present opportunities to your local teams and coordinate with Head of LAS to validate deal offers.
  • Carry out meetings with prospective clients to pitch our services and follow up through negotiations until signing, working with the local team.
  • Analyze and report progress, and seek constant improvements with the team.

3.     Identify Market Trends and market dynamics and report to management: 

  • Audit and identify emerging label & artists market trends by attending meetings, gigs, showcases, conferences, and other events to represent Believe and your key clients.
  • Build strong relationships with labels, artists, management, and the local industry (music lawyers etc.).
  • Inform internal team about market evolution.

4.     Alignment of clients and internal stakeholders:

  • Ensure streamlined communication with all stakeholders
  • Ensure the best transition with the team that will handle customer’s day-to-day relationship and support (especially account management team)

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, we consider the following as critical skills:

  • Results driven; Target oriented
  • More than 5 years of experience in a music industry or similar role in a record label, distributor, fan & audience development, artist management, entertainment IP management
  • Proven track record in sales, closing deals in a fast-growing company (technology, services, media, entertainment)
  • Excellent command / highly proficient in spoken and written English
  • Ability to quickly build and develop a rapport through friendliness, positive attitude and listening skills
  • Strong leadership or ability to keep team members motivated
