Head of Publishing

The Job

We’re looking for an exceptional, self-motivated individual with a proven track record in music publishing to develop and lead our team, whilst collaborating with cross functional teams and leadership to create strategies to maximise income for our clients. A successful candidate will also be responsible for copyright management, contract negotiations, and the cultivation of revenue streams on behalf of the publishing & sync rights they represent. 

This role reports to Managing Director, Believe India.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Believe India’s new business targets, measured by company KPIs.  

  • Drive new business growth through the identification of new opportunities and client acquisition. 

  • Build and manage relationship with top management at local collection societies (IPRS, PPL etc) 

  • Actively pitch and market Believe catalogue to the Film, TV, OTT, Advertising and Gaming community to effectively negotiate procure and increase publishing & sync revenue 

  • Communicate with labels and artists to obtain advance music assets, instrumentals and help manage all music by maintaining and updating databases. 

  • Manage and maintain the catalog of music assets and rights over multiple platforms, including metadata, album art, music file assets, etc.. 

  • Deliver maximum value from, and opportunities for, new and existing Believe clients, measured by team KPIs. 

  • Prepare advance appraisals and to calculate and complete offers. 

  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of offers and long form contracts, in partnership with Legal and Business Affairs 

  • Generate monthly reporting to communicate status of Publishing and Sync business, including department goals/projections, confirmed uses, outstanding payments and general highlights. 

  • Be a Believe ambassador in press and events and collaborate and coordinate with internal teams to identify and deliver new client opportunities (e.g. events, festivals, funds, etc. 

Must have:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience and proven track record of exceptional publishing or related role  

  • Experience of managing sync business is an added advantage.  

  • Sales acumen to low, medium and high value clients 

  • Proven relationships with labels, A&R departments, music supervisors, agency and studio clients, Business Affairs offices and/or persons throughout the music industry. 

  • Passionate understanding of the music industry & demonstrable understanding of the music ecosystem and the functions within it 

  • Able to describe how global copyrights and rights organizations operate and are governed. 

  • Positive, enthusiastic and collaborative approach 

  • Excellent people and communication skills

JP – AS Video Channel Manager

The Job

1.    Analyse, optimize & implement high impact video monetization strategy
a.    Perform thorough artists’ asset and channel audits to identify opportunities for revenue improvement across video platforms like YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and others.
b.    Report, analyse and present campaign and overall performance of video to elaborate Business Reviews, using YouTube CMS and other internal or external tools.
c.    Work closely with AS Support and Artist Services team to analyze clients’ concerns and solve complex support topics relating to rights management, video delivery or content optimization, by troubleshooting and investigating client and product, prioritizing and escalating issue reports.
d.    Ensuring that all content that is ingested has relevant rights cleared, and we apply the monetization policy aligned with YouTube’s & In-house guidelines.
e.    Take responsibility for the asset & channel performance, growth & guidelines stability.

2.    Supporting Marketing Teams on Audience Development strategy on Video platforms
a.    Devise and implement audience development strategies from a technical/algorithm perspective on video platforms, to increase viewership & subscribers with a specific focus to reap the most effective commercial return for our artists.
b.    Acts in full coordination with Project Manager and Digital Marketing to provide video optimization and analysis to maximise watch time hours, platform engagement, audience growth, monetization growth, and community interaction, etc.
c.    Work closely with Digital Marketing, Trade Marketing & AS Support teams to ensure full productivity of the department and provide timely recommendations to improve opportunities 

3.    Identify New Trends and Opportunities
a.    Research and present new trends in video ; including topics, format, content rollout, and audience consumption behaviour amongst others.
b.    Work in close coordination with Local Heads of Artist Services & Talent Scouts to identify and pitch potential artists

The Job

Responsibilities:​

 1 – People

You will be tasked to build, manage and develop the best trained team of support /sales functions managers in the local music industry.

  • Local head Editorial and Marketing Partnership

2 – Strategy

You will be tasked to build the sales & marketing strategy in partnership with the local head of distribution sales and Central distribution team.

3 – Execution

You will be responsible to adapt and execute Believe’s global and GC strategy in your market for both Artist and Label distribution. As such, you will have primary responsibility for artist and label satisfaction, for the P&L of each business line and for your countries global P&L. You will share this responsibility with the MD/MDO.
