The Job

A hybrid role built primarily on a Trade Marketing (EMP) function, with Label Management responsibilities attached. It centers on DSP-facing, strategic trade marketing leverage, complemented by hands-on ownership of a portfolio of label and artist accounts, notably the direct management of French-Canadian labels based in Quebec and English-Canada accounts alongside. The person bridges our release schedule, the digital platforms, and our international offices. This role requires someone based in Toronto who can move between a DSP partnership discussion and a Quebec label’s release strategy in the same day, operating fluently in both official languages.

Key responsibilities

EMP Digital retail & DSP partnership

  • Own relationships with key digital retailers; ensure priority releases are surfaced, pitched, and optimally merchandised across streaming and mobile.

  • Drive international key-release strategy to break Canadian acts across multiple markets, in coordination with international offices.

  • Develop new avenues for catalogue visibility and monetization with platform partners.

  • Contribute to the conception and rollout of new marketing and promotion services for artists.

Label & artist management

  • Directly manage a portfolio of label and artist accounts, to second the label lead in Quebec to manage French-Canadian labels in Quebec along with English-Canada labels: release planning, distribution strategy, revenue optimization, and day-to-day relationship ownership as primary point of contact.

  • Forecast release projections and keep accounts aligned with budget.

  • Monitor release and campaign performance using available tools  and internal dashboards.

  • Identify and nurture new talent for the pipeline (Hunter/Farmer model).

Team enablement & internal process

  • Educate label managers on best practices, platform evolution, and trade marketing strategy.

  • Spread best practices across the Canadian team.

  • Lead weekly touchpoints with Canadian label managers; contribute to the weekly international call.

  • Ensure global Trade Marketing strategy is applied locally with strong process discipline.

Qualifications

  • Toronto-based (required).

  • High level DSP expertise: deep, current command of Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, YouTube, and Deezer, including editorial pitching, algorithmic drivers, and retail promotion across streaming and mobile.

  • Experienced operator in music distribution and digital marketing.

  • Bilingual (French/English), French essential: fully fluent French for direct, client-facing management of Quebec-based French-Canadian labels and coordination with Canadian Lead plus strong English for the anglo market. French is a requirement of the role, not a complement.

  • Working knowledge of the Quebec market: funding bodies (FACTOR, Musicaction, SOPROQ), the francophone ecosystem, and its market dynamics.

  • Network in independent English-Canada labels, with credibility across the indie ecosystem to support the anglo portion of the portfolio.

Where you’ll be 

 This role will be based out of our Toronto office and follows Believe’s U.S. hybrid model.   Unless otherwise stated, employees are expected to work from their local office on designated in-office days, currently Tuesday and Wednesday each week, with reasonable flexibility for approved PTO, sick time, Company holidays, business travel, or manager-approved schedule adjustments.

Salary Transparency

Believe is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary range for this position is $81,200-100,000. The final salary offer will be determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience, specialized skills, internal equity, and specific work location. This range represents our good faith estimate at the time of posting.
